Milan Zhu

Editor-in-Chief

Hello! My name is Milan Zhu and I founded and run the magazine. My job is to curate each issue, meaning finding writers, poets, artists, and photographers that fit the theme of each monthly publication. I am from Jersey City, NJ and am a senior at High Tech High School. My hobbies are reading, drawing, and playing tennis. My favorite issue is the latest one, because we are always consistently improving and innovating (although the cover of Vol. 19 is my favorite). Join us on our journey!

I am from North Bergen, NJ and am a senior at High Tech High School, under the Radio and Television major. My latest hobby this summer is crocheting, mainly amigurumi but I want to try making clothes. My favorite issue is always our latest one, because I think we outdo ourselves each time!!

Jazlene Paneto

Advisor

Hi, my name is Jazlene and I am an advisor for the magazine. My journalism jobs include writing, interviewing, and editing for “Main Feature” articles. I am from Jersey City and am a senior from County Prep High School (journalism, marine biology, AP psychology <- favorite elective and class history). My favorite hobby is playing volleyball. My favorite issue is the July/August 2025 Summer Edition (Vol. 11). This edition is personable to me because it was a time in my life in which I was excited to write and try new things. It keeps distinct memory of it from the review of the Hive on a warm summer day to working my summer job and getting to read and see about my job at the time.

James Walker

Editor

My name is James Walker, and I am an editor for The Hudson Scholar. As an editor, I make the final edits to articles before they are added to the paper and the whole magazine before it is sent to print. I'm from Kearny, NJ, and am a senior at High Tech High School in Secaucus, NJ. A hobby I enjoy is baking, and my favorite thing to bake is cookies. My favorite issue is issue 20 because it, in my opinion, has the best cover art.

Tenzin Choedon

Editor

Hello, my name is Tenzin Choedon and I am currently an editor for the Hudson Scholar! I format any text and photos into the magazine while also peer editing any articles assigned to me. I am from Secaucus, NJ and attend Rutgers University-New Brunswick studying Public Health. I love to read biographies and learn about different historical/political/cultural figures. My favorite issue has to be the anniversary issue (Vol. 13) as it featured the start of a new section in the feature magazines: games!!!!

Sonia Grutman

Editor

Hai, my name is Sonia Grutman, and I have an immense passion for creation. Aside from being a magazine editor, I am a painter and a writer. I paint in oils on canvas and write psychology/philosophy analysis pieces, and of course write in my personal diary. I am from Jersey City, NJ, and attend McNair High School. My word of wisdom is to always create and express what you contain, a precautionary act as to not implode, for we are all full of an absolute lifeforce. With love.
